Now, I am a gardener, and I absolutely adore this plant. Many of you may already know why. While I have always been amazed by Aloe’s ability to quickly self-heal, what astounds me is this plant’s capacity to give life. Aloe is the plant I turn to when I want to grow a jungle. And here’s why:-
- If I want 100% of my seeds to germinate, I put them in a pot that grows Aloe vera. And there they are, a green swarm emerging from the soil. They also grow significantly faster.
- When one of my plants is severely damaged and is seemingly dead, I take aloe leaf pieces and smear the entire plant in aloe gel. And, presto, the plant develops new leaves and shoots after a week or two.
- Well, many of you may already know this one. Put new cuttings that you want to root in water with a piece of aloe leaf and they will grow roots in no time. But, in a day or two, remove the aloe and replace the water. This aloe water can be used as a fertiliser (NPK) for your other plants. You can also continue to use aloe vera water on new cuttings that you may have planted directly in soil. Aloe is an excellent rooting agent.
- Trying to protect a scorched leaf on an expensive ornamental plant, smear it with aloe vera gel. While it will not totally remove the burn marks, it will quickly soothe the leaf and keep it from withering. Furthermore, the treatment will make this leaf appear much more attractive and characterful than it would have otherwise.
- If a twig or a stem of your beloved plant breaks, apply aloe gel to the fractured area and tape the piece back together, just like an orthopaedist would do with a broken bone. In most circumstances, the plant will self-heal with the assistance of our medical buddy - Aloe.
- Bonus point, if you're fighting aphids, spider mites, mealy bugs, and other pests. Smear aloe gel on your plants, and it will smother the bugs and send them on their way. Sorry for being mortifying there, but I adore my plants and despise those elements who seek to harm them.
Tada! Take care till we meet again.
With love,
Jasmine
